Mr. Cothran--vocabulary in your Christian theology course

    Hello Mr. Cothran,

In your article a while back, you mentioned that you used Scanlon and Scanlon's Latin Grammar and Second Latin to teach your students enough Christian Latin vocabulary to be able to translate parts of St. Thomas Aquinas's Summa Theologiae.

I have a question about the method you used to get through Latin Grammar: did you have your students memorize just the vocabulary in the regular lesson vocabularies or did you also have them memorize the vocabulary introduced through cognates, derivatives, and compounds? What exactly did you have them memorize?

    Thank you,
    Maria
