    History of the Early Church

Could this guide be completed in one semester by an average 9th grader?

    Hello.

This could be a one-semester course. It will be challenging, but it is possible. There are 18 lessons. They require reading in the Chadwick text as well as primary source readings from Eusebius. You could try it as a semester course, and then if it seems too difficult, slow it down. It really depends on how much time you have to devote to Christian studies.

This would actually be for a 1-semester history credit. Would something else fit that semester time frame better? The Cicero books? City of God? Or Wars of the Jews? I'd like to cover those eventually, but I don't want something impossibly hard for the first year of high school.
      Thanks,
      Liz

        Hello.

Actually, the courses you have listed as alternates are probably more difficult than The Early Church, except for The Wars of the Jews. You could do that course alongside our study guide for The Book of Acts (which is coming out this summer). That would make a good semester.

Is the Acts of the Apostles Guide intended to go with the History of the Early Church? After? Where will that fit in? Trying to pace History of the Early Church right now...and wondering if the Acts of the Apostles is supposed to be in this year too or not.

Actually, Acts goes with the Intertestamental Reader and Josephus. We haven't gotten it scheduled in because we don't have the Intertestamental Reader yet. So we put the Story of Christianity in that spot. I feel like Chadwick's Early Church alongside Eusebius is plenty for one year. But if you do finish that early, you could tack on Acts.

Okay, so it sounds like we already passed the year in which it will go. No worries! She is reading that book by Hart just as a summer book, and she had a thorough year of Bible in seventh. The Chadwick book looks like a hefty bit of material, so we will focus on doing it well. Thanks!
