    Intro Physics Lesson Plans?

My rising 9th grader will be doing Novare's Intro Physics this fall, but I am not crazy about the course lesson schedule they provide. I have looked and looked, but not found any Memoria Press lesson plans for it. Does anyone know if there are some lesson plans hiding on the website somewhere or if someone has developed a more detailed daily reading/assignment chart? Thanks!

Hi Victoria, I am sorry that I am only getting to reply to you now. I was busy over the weekend and earlier this week in Louisville for Sodalitas and didn't really have much of a chance to be on the forum until now. But my time is also limited today and tomorrow as I am in virtual teacher training. I hope to reply tonight or at latest this weekend when I have more time.

I have these lesson plans. I just need to get them formatted. I'll try to work on that in the next couple of weeks.

Victoria, for your sake and for mine too, I am so excited that tanya has these lesson plans and will hopefully have them formatted and available soon. Thank you so much, tanya! Seriously.

Victoria, what I referenced for Introductory Physics was the plan that is available from CAP/Novare but with a few caveats. I jumped in past midstream (late February?) as a replacement teacher at HLN during Covid (I am still not sure how pickandgrin got me to jump in and how God opened up the opportunity for me to do so). So I never had a chance to write out a full year plan for IP and we instead worked through what was left the best that we could considering everything that was going on around that time.

All that said, I very much look forward to what tanya will be releasing soon. if only I had a nickel for every time I thought that. :l

YES!!! This whole thread is encouraging! I printed out your plans and will keep an eye out for Tanya's. I was considering maybe switching to Biology, but now maybe I will give the IP a try. I hesitate because my son is not strong in math... but maybe one step at a time we can work our way through it.

jerrysgal4ever I’m glad you are encouraged! I am looking forward to science this year! Since we are both attempting it, feel free to chat about any challenges or suggestions as you go through it.
The science we used for Jr High was old and met through a co-op. So many parents had developed plans and helps to go with it. I had been spoiled by that

I lied. We did not have these plans. We are working on precalc, calculus, and physics formatting. And Tom is writing the plans for Intro Physics, but they aren't complete yet. This is harder for him because we don't teach this course at HLS, so we don't have a working syllabus.

Sorry for the confusion! I misled you!

                              Intro to Physics LP.docx

Here are our Intro to Physics Lesson Plans, modified from the Novare recommendations, with labs, some from Novare, some from Experiences in Physics. References to the Student Lab Report Handbook by CAP. In the middle of the year I combined some quizzes because of our schedule to squeeze things together around Christmas breaks etc. Also there are SO. Many. Quizzes. and DS is doing fine in the class, so we felt at liberty to skip and combine. We did do the Soul of Motion lab, and brought in kids from the local homeschool community.

Y'all be sure to look at Victoria's playlist above too, and her lesson plans for a different take on it!! Hope everyone's year is going well!
