    Traditional Logic II (Workbook Page 39)

    Hi friends,

    We have had some great discussions on the Enthymemes chapter this week! We are hoping that someone might have the full syllogisms written out for Page 39 in the workbook. The answer guide has the missing piece, but for a few of them we are wondering about what the rest of the syllogism ends up looking like. We would especially like to see the full syllogism for "j". The directions tell us to Obvert something...

    I have your answer:

    Sorry it took me a minute to get to this. The full syllogism for j would be:

    All countries that do not control their borders are countries that are destined for extinction.
    America is a country that does not control its borders.
    Therefore, America is a country that is destined for extinction.


    This is an example of Barbara.

    I do not believe an obversion is required (I believe this is a mistake in the book).
